Our Dementia Awareness Training Course will change your perception of people living with dementia. We take a fresh approach by looking at how to enable clients to lead a fulfilled life. We focus on their remaining independence, using new and existing knowledge of Dementia and we ensure your staff have relevant, up to date information to give essential support and care to dementia sufferers and their families.
Who is the course for?
This training is aimed at carers and other professionals who work with people who have Alzheimer’s or other related dementias. It is intended for participants who want to gain a better understanding of dementia. Suitable for anyone working within the care sector.
What we will cover
- Types of Dementia and the symptoms;
- Impact of dementia on cognition;
- Theory behind the disease;
- Understand the role of working with individuals who have Dementia;
- Replace negative views of Dementia with positives;
- Use of well-being over medication.
The course lasts 4 hours and will involve participant participation, group activity and open discussions in a relaxed learning environment. Upon successful completion of multiple-choice questionnaire, a certificate will be awarded. Our experienced trainers will be on hand to help throughout.
This course will enhance the staff member’s knowledge and understanding of dementia and is vital training for staff who care and manage people within a care setting, whilst promoting best practise in the work place.
This course links directly to the Care Certificate and Diplomas in Health & Social Care; it can be cross-referenced for evidence towards these awards.
