Introduction to Food Hygiene
Anyone who works in a setting where food is cooked, prepared or handled is required to have a basic understanding of food safety.
In this course staff will learn what their responsibilities are with regards to the handling of food, and will be given straightforward information on food safety including, cooking, cleaning, chilling and cross contamination.
Who the course is for?
This course is ideal, for all staff who are, or who could be, involved in preparing handling or serving meals or food.
Aim of the course
Participants will be able to prepare food safely and understand correct food hygiene practices.
What We Will Cover
- Legal requirements of food hygiene and safety;
- Poor hygiene practices;
- Causes of food poisoning;
- Food poisoning symptoms;
- Good personal hygiene;
- Correct food handling and preparation.
The course lasts 4 hours and includes participation, group activity and open discussions in a relaxed learning environment.
Upon successful completion of multiple-choice questionnaire, a certificate will be awarded. Our experienced trainers will be on hand to help throughout.
This course is mandatory training that is required by law and enforced by CQC for the care sector. It is therefore vital training for staff involved with any aspect of food handling.
This course links directly to the Care Certificate and Diplomas in Health & Social Care; it can be cross-referenced for evidence towards these awards.
