Introduction to Falls Prevention

People living in care homes are three times more likely to fall than in those living in their own homes. 1 in 3 people over 65 have at least one fall per year and suffer the greatest number of fatal falls.

Staff have a key role to play in falls prevention, but they need to have the right knowledge and understanding to support those they look after. This course will give them the right skills to help manage and reduce falls.

Who is the course for?

This course is aimed at all staff who work in a care home.

Aim of the course

You will be able to identify increased risks of falls and be able to consider what preventative actions to take. You will also learn the potential impact on the resident, their relatives and the care home itself, should a fall occur.

Assessment

The course lasts 4 hours and will involve student participation, practical group activity and open discussions in a relaxed and informal learning environment.

Upon the successful completion of a multiple-choice questionnaire, a certificate will be awarded. Our experienced trainers will be on hand to help throughout.
