Communication

Good communication is vital and challenging, especially in the care sector. You need to be able to adapt how you communicate, so that you connect with people at all levels.

This course will not only teach you about communicating and overcoming barriers, but also how to ask questions, to listen — and even the importance of body language.

Who is the course for?

This course is for everyone in care – we all communicate! There are lots of techniques that can be learnt particularly in a care setting to help with better communication

Aim of the course

Participants will have a greater understanding of different methods of communication and how to understand others better

What we will cover

  • Verbal and non-verbal communication
  • The power of body language
  • Barriers to communication and how to overcome them
  • How to communicate in difficult situations and be effective in communicating
  • How to actively listen

Assessment

The course lasts 4 hours and will involve student participation, group activity and open discussions in a relaxed and informal learning environment.

Upon the successful completion of a multiple-choice questionnaire, a certificate will be awarded. Our experienced trainers will be on hand to help throughout.

Important Information

It is vital for staff who care and manage people within a care setting. This training will also assist Health and Social Care diploma students with their learning.
