Equality and Diversity

Everyone wants to be treated fairly and equally. This course provides an introduction to the Equality Act 2010 and how to avoid discrimination through your words, actions or omissions. It will help you to promote a fairer, more tolerant and more diverse working environment.

Who is the course for?

This course is suitable for all staff involved in the care setting, as everyone in the workplace has a responsibility for supporting equality and diversity.

Aim of the course                                       

Participants will be able to understand how to treat people fairly and equally and identify discrimination and inequality whilst working within the legislation guidelines.

  • Equality and Diversity;
  • Discrimination;
  • Key legislation;
  • Protected characteristics;
  • Indirect and direct discrimination;
  • Victimisation and harassment;
  • Bullying.


The course lasts 4 hours and will involve participant participation, group activity and open discussions in a relaxed learning environment. Upon successful completion of multiple choice questionnaire, a certificate will be awarded. Our experienced trainers will be on hand to help throughout.

This course will enhance the staff member’s knowledge and understanding of equality & diversity, whilst promoting best practise in the work place.

This course links directly to the Care Certificate and Diplomas in Health & Social Care; it can be cross-referenced for evidence towards these awards.
