FIRST AID AT WORK LEVEL 3: 3 Day Course

This course is aimed at those individuals who have been identified by their workplace, to undertake the role of first aider or for those who simply want to gain the skills and knowledge to be able to confidently deal with emergency situations in a prompt, safe and effective way.

The course syllabus covers a wide range of first aid emergencies:

Role and responsibility of the first aider

  • Basic hygiene in first aid
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Primary survey
  • Resuscitation including safe use of an AED
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Seizures
  • Choking
  • Wounds and bleeding control
  • Shock (Including Anaphylaxis)
  • Minor injuries
  • Burns
  • Broken or dislocated bones
  • Spinal injuries
  • Diabetes
  • Heart Attack
  • Stroke
  • Asthma

Assessment is ongoing throughout the course, by the instructor, through a range of practical scenarios. There is also a written assessment at the end of day 3. On successful completion of the course, students will be issued with a Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (Level 6 in Scotland). This qualification is valid for 3 years; however, it is recommended that learners attend an annual refresh within that period.

This course can be delivered either at your premises or at our dedicated training department.
