ANNUAL REFRESHER: Half Day Course

This course is aimed at First Aiders and Emergency First Aiders. Although this is not a mandatory course, HSE strongly recommend that qualified First Aiders and Emergency First Aiders attend an annual refresher course, to keep their skills up to date.

The syllabus covers a range of subjects:

• Responsibilities
• Communication skills
• Primary survey
• Secondary survey
• Resuscitation
• Chain of survival
• Recovery position Action for vomit
• Wounds and bleeding

• Bandaging and hygiene

There is no formal assessment for this course, but a certificate of attendance will be issued.
