This course will give learners the skills and knowledge to be able to respond in an emergency and provide life-saving treatment, while waiting for medical assistance to arrive. The syllabus covers a range of subjects: • What is First Aid • Responsibilities and reporting • Infection control • Assessment of the situation • Primary survey • Resuscitation • Defibrillation procedures • AED functions • Safety measures • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty Assessment is ongoing throughout the day, by the instructor, through practical scenarios. There is also a written assessment at the end of the course. On successful completion of the course learners will be issued with a Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support and the safe use of an AED. The qualification lasts 3 years although learners are recommended to attend an annual refresh within this period. This course can be delivered either at your premises or at our dedicated training department.
