Who is the course for?

This course is suitable for individuals who are currently working within a care setting. Learners are usually working in a role caring for vulnerable people, and those who may have specific dietary requirements.

Aim of the course

Learners will be expected to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of allergens and their types, legislation relating to allergens, control methods, recognition and treatment of allergen induced anaphylaxis.

• Types of food allergens

• Legislation regarding food allergens

• Common symptoms if food allergens are ingested

• Allergy or sensitivity?

• Anaphylaxis – recognition & treatment

• Control methods for food allergens

Assessment

The course lasts 3 hours and will involve student participation, group activity and open discussions in a relaxed and informal learning environment.

Upon the successful completion of a multiple-choice questionnaire, a certificate will be awarded. Our experienced trainers will be on hand to help throughout.
